3. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send to the user's device — for example a computer, smartphone or tablet — where they are stored in order to be re-transmitted to the same sites on subsequent visits.
Cookies can perform several functions, including:
- ensuring the proper functioning of the site;
- storing user preferences;
- improving navigation;
- collecting statistical information on site usage;
- enabling marketing, personalization or profiling activities, where applicable and subject to consent.
4. Categories of cookies used
The site may use the following categories of cookies.
4.1 Necessary technical cookies
Technical cookies are necessary to allow site navigation and the use of essential features.
These cookies do not require user consent, as they are indispensable for the proper functioning of the site.
By way of example, this category includes:
- cookies necessary for navigation;
- security cookies;
- cookies that store the user's consent preferences;
- cookies needed to manage the cookie banner.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Indicative duration |
|---|---|---|
| cookie-consent | Stores user preferences expressed via the cookie banner | 12 months |
4.2 Analytics or statistical cookies
Analytics cookies are used to collect statistical information on user activity on the site.
Through these tools it is possible to know, for example:
- the number of site visits;
- the most consulted pages;
- the average time spent on the site;
- the approximate origin of users;
- the device, browser or operating system used;
- how users interact with site content;
- the effectiveness of campaigns or traffic sources.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Indicative duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users and enables the collection of aggregate statistics on site usage | 24 months |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics | Maintains session state and enables analysis of visits | 24 months |
The site may use analytics tools, including by way of example Google Analytics.
Non strictly-technical analytics cookies are installed only after the user's consent.
The user can refuse analytics cookies directly from the cookie banner or via the “Manage cookies” panel available in the site footer.
The lack of consent to analytics cookies does not prevent navigation of the site nor limit access to content, but it may reduce the Controller's ability to analyze and improve the site based on statistical data.
4.3 Profiling and marketing cookies
Profiling and marketing cookies are used to analyze user behavior, build profiles related to preferences or interests and propose personalized content or advertising.
These cookies may be installed directly by the site or by third parties such as advertising platforms, social networks or digital marketing services.
Such cookies are used only after free, specific and informed consent of the user.
The user can refuse these cookies or withdraw consent at any time via the preferences management panel.
Refusing marketing cookies does not prevent navigation of the site.
4.4 Third-party cookies
The site may integrate services provided by third parties, which may install their own cookies or tracking tools.
By way of example, the site may integrate services attributable to:
- Google Analytics;
- LinkedIn;
- Instagram;
- other analysis, communication, embedded content or digital marketing services.
Third parties process the data collected through their tools according to their own privacy and cookie policies.
BV MILAN S.r.l. does not have full control over the installation and use of cookies by third parties. Users are therefore invited to consult the policies of individual providers for details on processing methods, retention periods and opt-out options.
5. Legal basis
The legal basis for processing varies according to the type of cookie used.
For necessary technical cookies, the legal basis is the Controller's legitimate interest in ensuring the proper functioning of the site and the security of navigation.
For non-technical analytics cookies, profiling cookies and marketing cookies, the legal basis is the user's consent.
Consent can be given, refused or withdrawn at any time via the cookie banner or the preferences management panel.
6. How consent is obtained
On first access to the site, the user sees a cookie banner that allows to:
- accept all cookies;
- reject all non-necessary cookies;
- customize preferences;
- obtain more information on the categories of cookies used.
The user's consent is recorded and stored for the period indicated in the technical cookie dedicated to managing preferences.
The user can modify or withdraw consent at any time using the “Manage cookies” link in the site footer.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
7. How to manage or disable cookies
The user can manage their preferences at any time via the “Manage cookies” link in the site footer.
Through this panel it is possible to enable or disable non-necessary cookie categories, such as analytics and marketing cookies.
Alternatively, the user can manage, block or delete cookies via browser settings. Some examples:
- Google Chrome: privacy and security settings, cookie section;
- Mozilla Firefox: privacy and security settings;
- Safari: privacy preferences;
- Microsoft Edge: cookie settings and site permissions.
Disabling technical cookies may compromise the proper functioning of the site. Disabling analytics or marketing cookies does not prevent navigation.
8. Provision of data
Provision of data through technical cookies is necessary to allow the site to function.
Provision of data through analytics, marketing or profiling cookies is optional and subject to user consent.
Lack of consent to non-necessary cookies has no negative consequences on the ability to navigate the site.
9. Transfer of data outside the European Economic Area
Some third-party services used by the site, such as analytics tools or social platforms, may involve the transfer of personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area.
In such cases, the transfer will take place in compliance with the safeguards provided by the GDPR, including European Commission adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other safeguards recognized by applicable law.
